QR code with logo

Your logo in the centre and, if you like, a frame saying “Scan me”. The logo is not uploaded: your browser reads the file itself and draws it into the code. Free, no sign-up and no watermark.

Your code with logo

Enter the content first, then pick the logo under “Logo, frame and colours”. The preview shows straight away what the code looks like.

Leave off https:// and we will add it for you. More on the link code

Preview

Fill in at least one field on the left and your QR code appears right here.

Use SVG, PDF or EPS for print. These vector files stay sharp at any size.

Logo, frame and colours

PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP, up to 2 MB. The file stays on your device, it is not uploaded.

Higher levels survive scratches and logos but make the pattern denser.

The light border is part of the code. Below 4 modules you are asking for trouble.

How it works

Three steps to a code with a logo

  1. Enter the content

A link, Wi-Fi, a business card or another kind. The shorter the content, the coarser the pattern and the more leeway there is for the logo.

  2. Choose logo and frame

PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP from your files. Error correction switches to H, and the modules under the logo are left out. Add a frame with your own text if you like.

  3. Test and download

Scan it with two different phones, then download it as SVG, PDF or EPS for print. Modules, frame and text stay vectors and remain sharp at any size.

Uses

Where a logo in the code helps

Menus and table stands

A code with the restaurant’s logo clearly belongs to the restaurant and does not look like a stranger’s sticker. Guests are more likely to scan what they can place.

Packaging and labels

On the product, the code leads to instructions, ingredients or reordering. The logo shows that it comes from the manufacturer.

Flyers and posters

With a frame and “Scan me”, it is clear the code is there to be scanned, even for people who don’t do that every day.

Shop windows and front doors

Opening hours, booking or the guest Wi-Fi: a code that matches the look of the shop.

Business cards

The company logo in the code, the name and number next to it. A vCard with many fields gets dense with a logo. In that case, use a short link to your contact page instead.

Clubs and events

The club crest in the centre, “Sign up now” in the speech bubble. On the noticeboard, everyone sees at once who is behind it.

What happens to the logo

Safeguards that keep the code readable

A logo takes away part of the pattern’s area. The code still works thanks to error correction. That is why the generator fixes a few things instead of leaving them to you:

Error correction H
With a logo, the highest level is fixed. It makes up for up to 30% of missing area. The pattern becomes denser as a result.
A quarter at most
The logo covers at most 25% of the side length, a little over 6% of the area. We don’t offer more: there would be too little reserve left for scratches, dirt and poor light.
Modules left out
Under the logo the modules are removed entirely instead of being half covered. That leaves a light border around the logo, and no module is only half visible.
Corners stay clear
Every scanner needs the three large squares in the corners and the format information next to them first. The logo sits in the centre and leaves them clear. Very short content gets a slightly larger grid for this.
Frame outside
The frame and the speech bubble sit outside the quiet zone. The light border around the pattern stays complete.
The file stays with you
Your browser reads the logo itself. It is not uploaded and not stored. Close the page and it is gone.

Transfer codes stay without a logo. The European banks’ standard requires error correction M there, and with M a logo would be too risky. A frame is still possible.

In practice

What matters with a logo

A simple mark, not a whole wordmark

There is little room in the centre of a QR code. A symbol or monogram stays recognisable, a long wordmark becomes tiny. An SVG or a PNG with a transparent background works best.

Contrast is still a must

The logo does not change the basic rules: dark modules on a light background, clear contrast, the quiet zone all around. A brand colour for the modules is fine as long as it is dark enough; the preview warns you if it isn’t.

Start with “Medium”

20% of the side length is enough for most logos. “Large” only pays off if the code is printed large enough. The bigger the logo, the less reserve is left for scratches and poor light.

Test before printing

Scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone, once up close and once at arm’s length. Only when both respond straight away does the run go to print.

Questions about QR codes with a logo

A code without a logo?

The generator on the home page offers all ten kinds of code, with the same options for logo, frame and colours.

To the generator on the home page
Is my logo uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the file with a built-in function and draws it straight into the code. There is no server on our side that could receive it. You can check: load the page, disconnect from the internet and then choose the logo. It works just the same.

How large can the logo be?

At most a quarter of the side length, a little over 6% of the area. You can choose 15, 20 or 25%. “Medium” is a good start; use “Large” only if the code is printed large and you have tested it with several phones.

Why does the pattern get denser with a logo?

With a logo, error correction H is fixed. It stores so much check data that up to 30% of the pattern may be missing. That needs more modules. Short content helps: the less it holds, the coarser the pattern.

Which file works as a logo?

Ideally an SVG or a PNG with a transparent background, about 500 pixels wide. JPG and WebP work too; a JPG brings its own background along, though. The file may be up to 2 MB.

How is the logo stored in the PDF and EPS?

In the SVG, the logo is embedded exactly as you chose it. In the PDF and EPS it is an image with 600 pixels on the longer side, on the code’s background colour; transparency is lost. Modules, frame and text stay vectors and are sharp at any size.

What is a “Scan me” frame good for?

It says what the code is for and sets it apart from the rest of the design. The frame sits outside the quiet zone, the pattern is untouched. You choose the text yourself, up to 24 characters; emojis are left out because PDF and EPS cannot show them.

Can I use a frame without a logo?

Yes. Frame and logo are independent of each other. Without a logo, error correction stays your choice, and transfer codes can have a frame too.

Does a code with a logo cost anything?

No. Logo, frame and every file format are free, with no sign-up and no watermark. The code is static: it holds your content itself and never expires.
